Set up your camera

Phone side-on to you, where point would stand, about 4 metres away at hip height. Shadow bat: no ball needed.

Your whole body, head to feet, needs to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

How to do it

  1. 1Start in your stance and lift your bat high.
  2. 2Imagine a full ball, one that lands close to you.
  3. 3Take a big step towards it and bend your front knee.
  4. 4Keep your head over your front knee and your top elbow high.
  5. 5Swing straight down the line and finish with your hands high.

What the coach watches for

  • Lift your bat

Your backlift was low. Pick the bat up towards your back shoulder before you play.

  • Head over your front knee

Your head was hanging back. Lead with your head so it's over your front knee.

  • Bend your front knee

Your front leg stayed straight. Bend that knee and lean into the shot.

  • Bigger stride

Your stride was short. Step right out to where the ball pitches.

  • Finish high

Your follow-through stopped short. Finish with your hands high, pointing where the ball went.
