Phone at hip height, about 3 metres away, filming you from the side. Keep the ball in the picture too.

Your whole body, head to feet, needs to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

  2. Outside-foot passYou are here

How to do it

  1. 1Plant your standing foot a little behind and beside the ball.
  2. 2Swing your kicking leg back with your knee bent.
  3. 3Point your toe down and slightly in, ankle locked.
  4. 4Lean over the ball and flick its middle with the outside of your foot.
  5. 5Follow through towards your target so the pass stays on the ground.

What the coach watches for

  • Swing your leg back

Your backswing was short. Bend your knee and bring your kicking leg further back.

  • Lean over the ball

You leaned back as you struck it, which sends the ball high. Get your chest over the ball.

  • Follow through to your target

Your leg stopped dead. Follow through towards where you want the pass to go.

  • Strike through the ball

The ball came off slowly. Lock your ankle and strike through the middle of it.

  • Keep it on the ground

The pass bounced up. Strike the middle of the ball with your foot flat and ankle locked.
