Set up your camera

Phone side-on to your delivery stride, about 5 metres away, so it sees you from gather to follow-through. Shadow bowl: no ball needed.

Your whole body, head to feet, needs to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

How to do it

  1. 1Make the grip: ring finger bent along the seam, wrist cocked back.
  2. 2Take a few short steps in and land side-on.
  3. 3Swing your arm over high and straight.
  4. 4Flick your wrist and ring finger so the ball spins out the back of your hand.
  5. 5Follow through, letting your body turn after the ball.

What the coach watches for

  • Keep your arm straight

Your bowling arm bent and straightened. Keep it straight through the delivery so your action is legal.

  • High arm

Your arm came round low. Bowl with a high arm, brushing past your ear.

  • Follow through

You stopped after releasing. Let your body follow through, bowling arm sweeping across.
