Set up your camera

Phone side-on to your delivery stride, about 5 metres away, so it sees you from gather to follow-through. Shadow bowl: no ball needed.

Your whole body, head to feet, needs to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

  3. YorkerYou are here

How to do it

  1. 1Run in with your normal smooth run-up.
  2. 2Land on a firm, braced front leg.
  3. 3Swing your arm over high and straight.
  4. 4Let go a little later, aiming at the bottom of the stumps.
  5. 5Follow all the way through, bowling arm sweeping across.

What the coach watches for

  • Keep your arm straight

Your bowling arm bent and straightened. Keep it straight through the delivery so your action is legal.

  • High arm

Your arm came round low. Bowl with a high arm, brushing past your ear.

  • Brace your front leg

Your front knee collapsed. Land on a firm front leg so you can bowl over it.

  • Follow through

You stopped after releasing. Let your body follow through, bowling arm sweeping across.
