Set up your camera

Phone side-on to your delivery stride, about 5 metres away, so it sees you from gather to follow-through. Shadow bowl: no ball needed.

Your head, arms and hips need to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

How to do it

  1. 1Make the grip: first two fingers on top, thumb underneath.
  2. 2Imagine the seam, the ball's stitched line, running straight up between your fingers.
  3. 3Swing your arm over high and straight, past your ear.
  4. 4Keep your wrist straight and behind your fingers as you let go.
  5. 5Follow through, letting your arm sweep across your body.

What the coach watches for

  • Keep your arm straight

Your bowling arm bent and straightened. Keep it straight through the delivery so your action is legal.

  • High arm

Your arm came round low. Bowl with a high arm, brushing past your ear.

  • Follow through

You stopped after releasing. Let your body follow through, bowling arm sweeping across.
