Set up your camera

Phone side-on to you, where point would stand, about 4 metres away at hip height. Shadow bat: no ball needed.

Your whole body, head to feet, needs to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

How to do it

  1. 1Stand side-on and lift your bat.
  2. 2Imagine a short ball bouncing up to your chest.
  3. 3Step back and across with your back foot.
  4. 4Swing the bat across flat, turning your shoulders and chest.
  5. 5Roll your wrists over at the end to keep the ball down.

What the coach watches for

  • Turn your shoulders

You played with your arms only. Turn your shoulders and chest through the shot.

  • Roll your wrists

The bat finished high, which lifts the ball in the air. Roll your wrists over to keep it down.
