Set up your camera

Phone side-on to you, where point would stand, about 4 metres away at hip height. Shadow bat: no ball needed.

Your whole body, head to feet, needs to be in the picture. The coach will remind you if it can't see you.

How to do it

  1. 1Stand side-on and lift your bat.
  2. 2Imagine a yorker, a fast ball aimed at your toes.
  3. 3Turn your shoulders and push the bat down with your bottom hand.
  4. 4Flick through with a quick whip of your wrists.
  5. 5Let the bat whirl all the way round, finishing over your shoulder.

What the coach watches for

  • Turn your shoulders

You played with your arms only. Turn your shoulders and chest through the shot.

  • Whip it over your shoulder

Your swing stopped short. Whip the bat all the way round, finishing over your shoulder.
